Health Ministry inaugurates Nizwa Hospital expansion project

Muscat: The Ministry of Health (MOH), has inaugurated on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 the expansion project of Nizwa Hospital.

The expansion consists of 260 facilities within eight buildings on an area of 45,135 square-meter, increasing the hospital's capacity up to 555 beds.

The first phase of the project was implemented with the supervision of the Royal Court Affairs, Royal Facilities. The project was carried out within the framework of the government's efforts to ensure delivery of the needed services to the citizens and promote decentralization on the Governorates according to the National Strategy of Oman Vision 2040. It aims at improving the patients' services and to keeping pace with increasing demand of specialized healthcare services from Al Dhakhiliya Governorate and neighbouring governorates.

The inauguration ceremony was held under the auspices of H.E. Sultan Salim Al Habsi, Minister of Finance, with the presence of H.E. Dr. Hilal Ali Al Sabti, Minister of Health, and number of their Excellencies and senior officials.

The second phase of the expansion project will bring a host of developments, including the additional of beds to Emergency Department with the establishment of Pediatric Emergency department, stroke care, along with expanding number of facilities namely are laboratory , sterilization, gynaecology & obstetrics emergency, and blood bank.
