Muscat: The national teams participating in the 19th Asian Games, scheduled to be held in the Chinese city of Hangzhou from September 23 to October 8, have fully prepared to compete at the highest levels, and to achieve the desired results from participation through the technical programs prepared for them and coordination with specialists in the field.
The Omani Olympic Committee has announced its participation in the Asian Games with a delegation consisting of 44 male and female athletes. The current session was postponed from 2021 to 2023 and will witness the participation of 12,400 participants from 45 countries.
The Oman Olympic Committee held a meeting with representatives of the national teams that will participate in the tournament, during which the technical details related to participation were reviewed. The focus was also on the most important indicative procedures that will be implemented in China during the tournament, as well as technical details of the competitions, their schedule and locations. This also included the necessary requisites before traveling to China, and procedures to be followed upon arrival and during the period of presence in the course. In addition, procedures for preventing and controlling infection from the Corona pandemic were also reviewed, as well as the most important health measures to ensure the safety of the sports teams, and administrative and technical personnel.
Taha bin Sulaiman Al Koshari, Secretary-General of the Olympic Committee and head of the official delegation participating in the session, stressed at the beginning of the meeting the importance of positive participation and achieving desired results and medals in the Asian Games, which is what the committee is keen on.
He said: “This meeting is a usual meeting that precedes every participation of the Sultanate of Oman, whether regional or international, in various sports games and competitions. This meeting comes before participation in the Asian Games, which will officially begin on the twenty-third of September of this month, to review the technical details of the national teams’ competitions and schedules, and times and places of residence."
He added: "The administrative mission has completed all procedures related to participation in the tournament, and will be present before the start of the tournament and the arrival of the participating teams, which will work to facilitate all matters related to these teams. They will supervise the transportation of the teams, starting from the airport all the way to the places of residence and providing means of transportation, and follow up and coordinate schedules of daily training and competitions. The first Omani teams to arrive in China will be the beach volleyball, hockey and sailing teams."
