Muscat: Muscat International Airport has been ranked among the best airports in the Middle East in the category of 15 to 25 million passengers, while Salalah Airport came in the category of the list of the best airports in the Middle East in the category of two million passengers, and won the award for the most dedicated staff, easiest trips, and the cleanest airport in the ME.

This culmination came during the airport service quality awards ceremony that was held in Incheon, Republic of Korea by the Airports Council International in partnership with the travel technology company "Amadeus", where the winning airports are selected based on passenger surveys collected at the airport.

Muscat International Airport witnessed a great leap in terms of passengers, and the pace of growth doubled in a short period, which put the airport at the top of the list of many regional and international awards in aviation, tourism and travel sectors, especially since the airport was configured to accommodate more than 56 million passengers in later stages, in order to accommodate future travel to and from the Sultanate of Oman.

Saud bin Nasser Al-Hubaishi, Executive Vice President of Muscat International Airport and Acting Chief of Operations at Oman Airports, said: This excellence in performance is due to the cooperation of all strategic partners from all entities operating in the two airports, stressing the importance of continuing and preserving these achievements in the coming years in light of the growth that the travel sector has witnessed since the “Covid-19” pandemic. Oman Airports, in cooperation with its partners represented by the Civil Aviation Authority, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and the Royal Oman Police, seeks to provide a series of incentives to airlines and travel companies to enhance the tourism system to the Sultanate of Oman.

It is noteworthy that the number of passengers through the airports of the Sultanate of Oman increased by the end of May 2023 by 71.5 percent, recording 5,223,992 passengers, compared to 3,045,519 passengers by the end of May 2022.
