Muscat: The activities of Al Jabal Al Akhdar Festival in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate are continuing in its second edition, as the number of visitors reached about 10,000 during the past 6 days, since its launch last Thursday, and will continue until the 19th of August.
The festival is held with the aim of attracting tourists from inside and outside the Sultanate of Oman. This is in order to introduce the cultural heritage and the beauty of nature within Jabal Al Akhdar in particular and the Sultanate of Oman in general, in addition to encouraging the owners of small and medium enterprises to participate in the festival and benefit from tourism promotion opportunities, which contributes to finding temporary job opportunities for the local community.
Ahmed bin Salem Al Tobi, Director General of Administrative and Financial Affairs at the Governor of the Interior, said: "All entertainment, tourism, social, sports and marketing events and activities for the festival in its second edition are witnessing a great turnout, with visitors from inside and outside the Sultanate of Oman. This festival comes within a series of events is implemented by the governorate, through which it seeks to make Al Jabal Al Akhdar a distinctive tourist destination for all visitors, by enriching and highlighting the tourist and heritage destinations that abound in the state and its unique tourism potential, as well as unique exceptional weather with low temperatures throughout the year. Such festivals in the province have become a necessity as they contribute to the development of the provinces economically and from a tourism perspective."
He explained to Oman News Agency that there are other activities that will be launched gradually during the coming days, according to a specific timetable. Al Tobi also noted that festival sites in Hail Al-Yemen and Saih Qatna witnessed a large attendance of families and individuals, citizens and residents from the governorate and outside, in order to enjoy the activities and events that are presented. The theatrical performances received a great interaction from the audience, which included Aladdin shows, chemical science shows, in addition to a music performance by the Royal Guard of Oman, paragliding shows, and children’s competitions in addition to many other festival corners such as: Youth Corner, Children Corner, and the food corner, in addition to the corners of productive families and the products of Al Jabal Al Akhdar farmers.
It is worth noting that the Governorate of Al-Dakhiliyah was keen to provide all services that will make the tourist experience in Jabal Al-Akhdar easier and smoother, by organizing the “Bait Al-Rudaida” exhibition next to the Bait Al-Rudaida Fort in Birkat Al-Muz, through which a number of services are provided, including; maintenance and car rental, providing trip equipment, as well as fire and safety equipment, in addition to tourist and adventure trip offices and guest houses.
