Muscat: The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism bagged the award for the fastest growing entity in the tourism sector as part of the “Indian Travel Awards 2023” which was held in New Delhi.
The Sultanate of Oman recorded growth in the number of visitors from India from January to May 2023, compared to the previous year when 234,509 visitors arrived from India to Oman.
The award was received by Asma Salem Al Hajri, the Assistant Director General of Tourism Promotion at the Directorate General of Tourism Promotion at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism.
She is leading the delegation of the Ministry participating in the promotional workshops organised by the Ministry in India, which will continue until 31 July moving into 4 Indian cities: Delhi, Jaipur, Kolkata, and Mumbai.
Asma Al Hajri said that bagging the award represents an achievement for the Sultanate of Oman which reflects the development witnessed by the tourism sector and the promotional efforts made by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism to attract tourists from different countries of the world.
She explained that this honour is a motivation towards continued efforts to present the Sultanate of Oman as a distinctive tourist destination in the global markets.
On the other hand, the Ministry continued its promotional workshops in India, where specialists from the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism held a series of meetings with a number of presidents of major tourism sector companies, travel and tourism agents and tour operators aiming to strengthen tourist arrivals from all parts of Indian and discuss cooperation to attract the targeted groups towards Oman.
The aim is to communicate with partners in the market for tourism promotion by showing them the developments witnessed by the tourism sector in the Sultanate of Oman and getting acquainted with their suggestions to enhance the tourism movement.
In addition, the Ministry aims to highlight the latest destinations and new projects in the Sultanate of Oman to offer tourists from India an exceptional tourism experience.
