Muscat: Faisal Abdullah Al Rowas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) valued the issuance of the Royal Decree No. 53/2023, which promulgates the Labour Law.
In a statement to Oman News Agency (ONA), Al Rowas said: “The Royal decree confirms the Royal interest of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to improve the business environment and achieve stability between employers and workers, in addition to furnishing a safe and healthy work environment that keeps abreast of economic developments and changes in the business sector, and regulating the Omani labour market in line with pillars of the Oman Vision 2040.”
OCCI Chairman pointed out that the issuance of the Labour Law will strike balance between production parties (employers and workers).
The law also defines the rights and duties of each party within the labour market.
The importance of the law lies in supporting the national economy and improving the quality of workers’ performance and productivity, Al Rowas added.
He affirmed that the Labour Law will contribute to improving the investment climate in the Sultanate of Oman and enhance the competitiveness of the Omani labour market among global markets.
