Activities of Summer Innovation Programme launched in Dhofar

Muscat: The activities of the Summer Innovation Programme have been launched, organised by the Directorate General of Education in Dhofar Governorate, with the participation of 190 male and female students.

The Summer Innovation Programme for the year 2023 began at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah, and the Innovation and Scientific Robot Centre in the governorate. It will continue until July 17.

Mariam bint Saeed Baawin, Head of the Innovation and Scientific Olympiad Department at the Directorate General of Education in Dhofar Governorate, said: ”The programme aims to provide an opportunity for students to learn the basic principles of programming and artificial intelligence, in an effort to enable them to learn how to think creatively, in order to find innovative solutions that contribute to employing science to achieve sustainable development, through the use of scientific research methodologies.”

The programme, which targets 190 male and female students, includes various training programmes on nanotechnology and scientific research methodology, as well as a course on designing smartphone applications and cybersecurity.

Additionally, the programme's activities include training on how to use drones, robots, Wido, and robotics engineering, in addition to a course in the renewable energy programme, and a workshop on scientific research methodology.
