More than 180 expats deported for violating Labour Law

Muscat: Within one week, more than 180 expats were deported from the Sultanate of Oman for violating Labour Law during the period from June 18 till June 24,2023.

"In order to follow up on the expatriate workforce and the extent of its compliance with the provisions of the Labour Law, the Ministry of Labour, represented by the Directorate General of Labour Welfare (the joint inspection team), conducted inspection campaigns in the Governorate of Muscat during the period from June 18 to June 24, 2023," Ministry of Labour said in a statement.

The Ministry added that the inspection campaigns resulted in arrest of 152 workers in violation of the provisions of the Labour Law, including 89 workers who left their jobs. The work is underway to take legal measures against them. Also, 184 workers were deported during the same period.
