Over 60 expats arrested for violating Labour Laws in Oman

Muscat: The Ministry of Labour (MOL) has carried out a number of inspection campaigns which resulted in the arrest of more than 60 expatriate workers.

A statement issued online by the Ministry of Labour said that the General Directorate of Labour Welfare, in cooperation with the Municipality of Seeb and the Royal Oman Police (ROP) carried out inspection campaigns in the Wilayat of Seeb. 42 violating workers were arrested and legal measures are being taken against them. 32 workers were also deported.

More than 25 workers arrested in Dhofar Governorate

Earlier, the joint inspection team in Dhofar Governorate carried out inspection campaigns, 27 workers were arrested in violation of the provisions of the Labour Law, including one who left work and another who works on a visit visa. The legal measures have been taken against them.

Deporting of over 480 expatriate workers in Oman in April 2023

In April 2023, inspection campaigns in the Governorate of Muscat resulted in arrest of 142 non-Omani workforce, including 48 workers working for a non-employer, 83 self-employed workers, and 10 workers working in Omanized professions. There were a total of over 485 deportations for the month.
