Muscat: The Omani Society for Fine Arts (OSFA) recently launched its first online fine arts auction of the works of Omani artists.
The auction started off with a painting by Anwar Sonya. The starting price was OMR250. The auction will be open until May 10.
The online auction marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Omani Society for Fine Arts (OSFA) at Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science – Diwan of the Royal Court.
“The OSFA will organise an online fine arts auction to exhibit the works of Omani artists, members of OSAF, on its social media platforms –Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, and it will continue for a one-year period,” said Maryam Al Zadjali, OSFA Director
The auction will showcase a single piece of art by an OSFA member each month. Interested buyers are requested to send in their bids.
This initiative is a demonstration of OSFA’s keenness to support aspiring Omani artists and provide them with the best marketing and promotional opportunities to sell their artworks.
OSFA will pay the artist 70 per cent of the sale proceeds of the artwork, give away 20 per cent to charitable institutions in Oman, and keep the remaining 10 per cent for itself.
“This initiative is part of the future vision plan to help Omani artists market their artistic products and, in the meantime, celebrate the 25th anniversary of OSFA with a view to promoting the culture of appreciating artworks, and their acquisitions, while understanding their investment potentials,” Maryam Al Zadjali said.
