Muscat: In response to the government directives, issued in December 2021 to restructure the electricity sector, and in-line with the Group initiatives to enhance efficiency, Nama Holding announced the commencement of operations of the Electricity Distribution and Supply Companies.
Nama Group joined hands with a number of entities such as the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, Oman Investment Authority (OIA) and the Authority for Public Services Regulation to guarantee the project completion based on a strategic planning.
Nama Group successfully managed to merge and restructure the distribution and supply companies (Muscat Electricity Distribution Company, Mazoon Electricity Company, Majan Electricity Company and Tanweer) into two main companies: Nama Electricity Distribution and Nama Supply.
This step comes in a bid to manage the provision of electricity services to all governorates of the Sultanate of Oman except for Dhofar Governorate, which is operated by Nama Dhofar Services that provides electricity, water and wastewater services in the southern parts of Oman.
Nama Electricity Distribution will be responsible for providing services related to meter reading, and low voltage networks.
The company’s mandates also include constructing lines and transformers to ensure reliable services to customers.
Nama Supply will be responsible for billing and collection operations.
Eng. Alaa Al Lawati has been appointed as CEO of Nama Electricity Distribution, and Salim Al Kamyani has been appointed as CEO of Nama Supply.
Nama Group has made much headway in distributing the assets and employees in these two companies, without prejudice to operation efficiency and continuation of services. This project will contribute to reducing the costs of the electricity sector in the medium term, raising the efficiency of the system, developing services and enhancing customer satisfaction by applying best practices and latest technologies.
The restructuring process came in a bid by Nama Group to provide all electricity services under the title “Nama Services”, which will serve as a “One-Stop-Shop” for all customers. The services provided through the “One-Stop-Shop” will include a service lounge to receive customers inquiries and a helpline for their support. The Group will also present an E-platform to provide all electricity services, including mobile phone applications and other digital media channels. .
Within its continuous commitment to contribute to Oman Vision 2040, Nama Group continues to conduct studies to assess the impact of its ongoing projects and take the necessary steps to ensure achieving the best outcomes. The Group is also proud of the achievements and projects that have been accomplished since its establishment in 2004, which contributed to the growth of the national economy and maintained the sustainable development in the Sultanate of Oman.
Nama Group strives to enhance the performance of its subsidiaries and cooperate with the concerned authorities and stakeholders to achieve common goals. The Group leaves no stone unturned to improve customer satisfaction and enhance awareness about occupational health and safety. The Group plays a significant role in preserving the environment, in addition to promoting the use of modern technologies and renewable energy.
