Earthquake recorded in South Al Sharqiyah

Muscat: An earthquake has been recorded on Thursday morning, June 1, 2023 in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, its magnitude exceeded 3 on the Richter scale, said the Earthquake Monitoring Centre at Sultan Qaboos University (EMC).

Earthquake Monitoring Center at Sultan Qaboos University (EMC) announced that it has recorded a minor earthquake in the Wilayat of Jaalan Bani Bu Ali in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, with a magnitude of 3.3 on the Richter scale.

The center stated that the earthquake was occurred at 06:54 am local time.

The center indicated that the earthquake was at a depth of 15 km, and its epicenter is about 54 km southeast of the Wilayat of Sur.
