Muscat: The Consulate General of the Sultanate of Oman in Mumbai has issued an announcement to Omani citizens residing and travelling to the Republic of India regarding the suspension of dealing in the 2,000 rupee denomination in the country.
This came through a publication of the consulate in which it said that the Indian government issued a decision to stop dealing in the 2000 rupees denomination of the Indian currency.
The decision issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) stated that if there is a denomination of 2,000 rupees, one must go to the nearest bank and exchange it for other denominations, no later than September 30, 2023.
