Restoration work continues in the old heritage area in Al Hafah

Muscat: Restoration work of the project to develop the old heritage area in the Hafah area in the Wilayat of Salalah is still continuing. The project is within the framework of preserving the heritage of the region and reusing it and transforming it into a tourist destination. The region will also gain prominence in cultural, heritage and entertainment dimensions.

Dr. Rafi bin Salem Al Shanfari, a member of the Board of Directors of Al-Haffa Development and Investment Company, the company undertaking the project, said in a statement to Oman News Agency that, "The project consists of several components, including urban, natural and economic, and what is related to the human component. The level of the urban component is represented in the heritage houses, many of which are built hundreds of years ago and have a unique traditional urban style. Their uses will be developed in order to preserve them and take advantage of their view of the waterfront of the Arabian Sea shore and benefit from the natural component surrounding this waterfront."

Al-Shanfari referred to the third component, which is the economy, which is represented in the activities of restaurants, cafes, retail centers, entertainment activities, heritage inns, and other recreational and tourism activities. As for the fourth component, it is represented in the activities of positive human interaction with the previous components, while preserving and sustaining the environment, taking into account the civilized nature of the facilities, allocating walking paths and preventing movement by vehicles.

Regarding the stages of developing the ancient heritage area in the Al-Haffa area, a member of the Board of Directors of Al-Haffa Development and Investment Company confirmed that the company is working to complete the implementation of the project sections through three balanced phases that extend to ten years, while seeking to reduce that period according to the data of work and implementation; Indicating that dealings are done with awareness and care not to harm the vocabulary of this heritage area and to re-present the visual character of the heritage area.

It is worth noting that the project for the development of the heritage area in the Hafah area enjoys high competitive advantages, as it will be implemented in a strategic location in the heart of the state of Salalah and on a distinct waterfront on the shore of the Arabian Sea.
