Several institutions are targeted for simplification in the second phase.

Muscat: The second phase of simplifying 120 government services has been launched today, with the aim of easing government procedures.

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, in cooperation with the Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit, launched today the second phase of Munjim laboratories to simplify government procedures. This aims to simplify 120 government services, with the participation of ten government institutions divided into five laboratories.

Each laboratory includes a service streamlining supervisor, trainer and documenter who documents current and future service procedures at the Oman Oil and Gas Institute on the campus of Sultan Qaboos University (SQU).

The targeted institutions in the second phase include:

- Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology,

- The General Authority for Social Insurance

- Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning,

- Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation,

- The Public Prosecution Office,

- Ministry of Heritage and Tourism

- The Environment Authority,

- Ministry of Energy and Minerals,

- Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion,

- The Supreme Judicial Council.

The number of services whose procedures were simplified in the first phase reached 145 services, and the total services that were simplified out of the total target amounted to 100%.

The services that have been simplified in the first phase include connecting electricity, water and sanitation, applications for candidacy for vacant job opportunities, issuance of building permits, private work permits for individuals, commercial work permits for establishments, medical examination, lease contracts, business completion certificate requests, services connection requests, and consultant reports to follow up, executing the works, requesting a doubt in the execution of the judgment, issuing a work card, attesting qualifications, equivalence of the certificate, and a building completion certificate.

Simplification stages:

The procedures are simplified in four stages. First, the study of the current situation, which includes determining the path of the current situation, identifying weaknesses and challenges. The second stage is assessment of the situation in future, in terms of drawing a picture of the future and addressing weaknesses and challenges in that.

Next comes the quality control stage, which includes reviewing the re-engineered document with stakeholders, with additional review by the quality control team. Finally, the approval stage, which includes modification of the document, re-review with stakeholders, and approval of the final document by general directors.

It is worth noting that the stage of simplifying procedures is a review or re-engineering of the steps and processes of service provision, with the aim of improving them, as well as presenting them in an innovative way. This achieves a distinguished experience for the service beneficiary.
