Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman is hosting the 20th meeting of the Air Navigation Planning and Implementation Region Group and the 10th meeting on Regional Aviation Safety in the Middle East.
Oman is represented by the Civil Aviation Authority at the 4-day meetings which kicked off in Muscat on Sunday.
The meetings discussed major issues and challenges facing member states in the field of navigation and safety.
The meetings seek to exchange expertise on air navigation and aviation safety and devise practical solutions.
The meetings, held in cooperation with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), are attended by 150 participants from 15 countries and 9 international organisations and companies specialised in the fields of air navigation and safety.
The opening of the two meetings was held under the auspices of Eng. Nail Ali Al Abri, President of the Civil Aviation Authority.
An exhibition has been organised on the sidelines of the event to showcase advanced technology and the latest techniques applied in the field of aviation. The exhibition also introduces the participants to Oman’s tourist, historical and cultural landmarks.
Earlier this year, the Civil Aviation Authority hosted the third meeting on aviation security and related facilities, as well as the meeting of legal advisors for civil aviation. The two meetings were held in January and February, respectively.
