Over 172,000 registered in Shifa application since 2021
The application displays all patient health data in a simple manner.

Muscat: More than 172,000 have registered in the Shifa application since its launch in 2021 by the Ministry of Health, Oman News Agency, (ONA) said.

A statement issued online by ONA said: ”The number of those registered in the Shifa application has reached 172,279 since its launch in December of 2021 by the Ministry of Health. It is considered a quantum leap in the field of digital transformation in the Sultanate of Oman."

It is a special platform for the individual sector, as it saves and exchanges medical information between the patient and the attending physician.

The application also displays all patient health data in a simple manner from all health institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Health.

Wissam bin Mohammed Abu Daraz, Director of the Electronic Health Department at the General Directorate of Information Technology, said that the Ministry of Health launched the Shifa application for mobile phones. The application aims to provide a personal health record for every citizen and resident through which medical data registered in health institutions is obtained, and electronic services are provided between the patient and health institutions.

“It also provides a platform for exchanging information regarding health and consultations with health service providers,” he added

He pointed out to Oman News Agency (ONA) that the application displays all the information that is registered in the Al-Shifa 3 Plus system and is used in all hospitals and health centers in the Sultanate of Oman. Information is updated continuously, and it displays more than one service and feature that users can benefit from easily.

There is also a feature in the side menu of the application called "What's New" that explains how to use each service.
