Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman is the eighth in the world in terms of date production, produced from over 7 million palm trees.
Speaking to Times of Oman’s sisterly radio, Shabiba, Engineer Haitham bin Badr Al-Khanjari - palm specialist at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, said: “The Sultanate of Oman is eighth in the world in terms of date production, as there are 9 million palm trees, of which 7.2 million are productive, and Oman is one of the leading countries in the production of dates. "
Al-Khanjari also confirmed that the Sultanate of Oman exports dates at a rate of 4% of total production abroad, adding that the best Omani dates are consumed locally.
