Muscat: A ministerial decision bans the import of live crustaceans, their products and derivatives from countries affected by white spot syndrome.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources issued a ministerial decision banning the import of live crustaceans, their products, derivatives and offal from the species specified in the World Organization for Animal Health's guide for diagnostic tests for aquatic animals from countries affected by white spot syndrome.
The decision excluded the areas or health squares declared free of disease and the products specified in Chapter 8/9 of the Health Law for Aquatic Animals issued by the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH).
The ministry indicated that the decision was based on the Veterinary Quarantine Law, the executive regulations of the Veterinary Quarantine Law issued, the report issued by the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH), and the recommendation of the competent veterinary authority to ban the import of live crustaceans, their products, derivatives, and offal.
