Muscat: The Oman Meteorology department has reported that four governorates of the Sultanate of Oman will witness active winds, dust, and poor visibility on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Chance of rain is also predicted on Friday afternoon in some parts of the Sultanate.
A statement issued online by Oman Meteorology said:”The governorates of Musandam, Al Buraimi, North Al Batinah and Al Dhahirah will witness active north-west winds during the next three days.
The statement also confirmed that the active winds might lead to the rise of dust, dirt, and sometimes a low level of horizontal visibility in deserts and open areas.
“It will also lead to a sea wave rise of 2.0-2.5 meters on the coasts of Musandam and 1.5 meters on the coasts of the Sea of Oman,” the statement added
Oman Meteorology also predicted a chance of active cumulonimbus clouds to continue on Friday, in parts of the Hajar Mountains and neighboring areas, which might lead to a possibility of sporadic rain, sometimes thundery, accompanied by active downward winds during the afternoon.
As on Friday, there are high clouds flowing over parts of Musandam, Al Buraimi, North Al Batinah and Al Dhahirah, with opportunities for active local formations later on in the Hajar Mountains.
