
The surgical oncology team in the gastrointestinal program at Sultan Qaboos Comprehensive Cancer Care and Research Centre (SQCCCRC) announced the launch of a new form of management using a minimally invasive surgical technique to deliver chemotherapy, that can give hope for advanced cancer cases in Oman. The technique of “Pressurized Intra Peritoneal Aresoal chemotherapy” (PIPAC) is a novel drug delivery system of chemotherapy using a minimally invasive surgical technique to treat patients with peritoneal based metastasis such as gastrointestinal, ovarian and uterine tumors.
