Fagor FCC defeated Orient Travels

Muscat: Fagor FCC defeated Orient Travels by 21 runs to lift the Oman Cricket A Division T20 title on Saturday and complete a grand double in domestic cricket. Fagor had earlier claimed the A Division 50-over-a-side title last month

In the T20 final, opting to bat first, Fagor FCC scored 147 for nine. Chirag Mandaviya (48 of 47; 1x4, 3x6) and Sultan Ahmed (43 of 30; 6x4) shared a 68-run third wicket partnership to set up a decent total. Tanveer Rana (3/38), Tauseef Ahmed (2/13) and Mudassar Qayyum (2/28) were among the wickets.

In their chase, Orient Travels lost wickets at regular intervals to fall short of target. Syed Amir Ali’s (45 of 27; 5x4, 2x6) was the only notable contribution. Aneermon and Charles Jacob claimed three wickets each.

Mandaviya of Fagor FCC was adjudged the man of the match.

After the title win, Fagor FCC Parameswaran Shankar said, “Our team has been brilliant in all the departments of the game. We have played as a unit and showed aggressive intent throughout the tournament. Our team composition relies on experienced players who understand the game and have contributed to the winning cause. To be winners in both formats is certainly an achievement and a unique record we all will cherish for a very long time.”

Later, Arvind Venkatramani, chief finance officer, Khimji Ramdas Infrastructure, along with Duleep Mendis, Oman Cricket chief development officer, gave away the prizes
