Muscat : The Minister of Economy His Excellency Dr. Said bin Mohammed Al Saqri has left for the State of Qatar to attend Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries(LDCs).
Oman News Agency (ONA), reported that the Minister of Economy left for Qatar based on the high commission of His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik . The Conference is expected to flag off in Doha on Sunday and will go on for several days.
The conference aims to help build a new and ambitious program of action for LDCs by focusing on investing in citizens of LDCs. This is by eradicating poverty, building infrastructure, harnessing the power of science, technology and innovation to address multidimensional vulnerabilities, achieving sustainable development goals and supporting structural transformation as an engine for prosperity.
In addition to enhancing the participation of LDCs in international trade and regional integration, confronting climate change and environmental degradation, recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic and building resilience to future shocks of risk-involved sustainable development are also part of the agenda.
The conference includes the holding of official sessions for heads of delegations and sub sessions focused on six tracks namely the private sector forum, the civil society forum, youth, parliamentarians, South-South cooperation and a forum for various other discussions.
