Muscat : The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has urged users of Jabal Shams Road in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate to drive cautiously and leave a safe distance between vehicles, as the muddy and wet soil present on the road which may cause skidding.
"For users of Jabal Shams Road in the Wilayat of Al Hamra there is a risk of driving on the road due to rain, which may lead to vehicles skidding due to muddy soil. Please do not take the risk, and leave a safe distance between vehicles," ROP said in a statement.
Several wilayats in various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman are witnessing thunderstorms of varying intensity, which led to the flow of valleys and coral reefs due to the an upper air trough which will continue to effect Oman until Saturday evening, January 28, 2023.
Oman Meteorology said in a statement: "Clouds continue to flow, accompanied by sporadic rain of varying intensity, sometimes accompanied by thunderstorms over the governorates of Musandam, North Al Batinah, Al Buraimi, Al Dhahirah, South Al Batinah, Muscat, Al Dakhiliyah, North Al Sharqiyah, South Al Sharqiyah, and parts of Al Wusta and Dhofar Governorates."
The Civil Aviation Authority issued previously in its weather report No.2 that an upper air trough will continue to affect the Sultanate of Oman until Saturday evening, 28th of January 2023. There are chances of clouds advection and isolated rain with occasional thundershowers and hail governorates of Musandam, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Al Buraimi, Al Dhahirah , Al Dakhiliyah and Muscat. The influence is expected to gradually extend to the Governorates of North Al Sharqiyah, South Al Sharqiyah , Al Wusta, and Dhofar. The highest amounts of rainfall is expected over the northern governorates.
