Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP), has announced the possibility of transferring a vehicle electronically from one institution to another, or between an individual and an institution through its website.
A statement issued online by the Directorate General of Traffic clarified the general conditions of the service. Transporting vehicles with a number plate for individuals will be applicable for private and commercial vehicles and motorcycles, while for companies and institutions it will apply for commercial vehicles only.
The Directorate General of Traffic pointed out that the service is available through the Royal Oman Police website (https://idpsp.rop.gov.om/login.jsp?app=VehicleOwnershipTransfer). The conditions for obtaining the vehicle transportation service electronically were indicated as follows:
1- The vehicle license must be valid.
2- In the case of authentication through the reader, the seller must ensure that there is an activated phone number registered (certified) in the civil status system, in order to obtain the secret code (OTP) to confirm the signature process from the first party.
3- Vehicle insurance transfer procedures must be completed, and the vehicle must be insured with approved insurance companies.
4- Passing the inspection for the vehicles that are subject to technical examination.
5- It is stipulated that the records of the service beneficiaries and the vehicle whose ownership is to be transferred should be free of any restrictions that prevent the transfer process electronically in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Traffic Law.
6- Submitting a request to transfer ownership of a vehicle and signing the approval must be done by the seller personally using digital certification or whoever is legally authorized by him.
7- Ratification of approval and payment of transportation fees by the buyer in person or whoever is authorized by him legally.
8- The buyer must ratify and pay the transaction fees within 24 hours from the moment the transaction is created by the seller, and the transfer procedures are considered canceled if they are not ratified by the buyer within the specified period.
