Muscat: A team has been formed to study the economic impact of the Muscat Metro to avoid any steps that may cause problems in the long term, the Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology said.
His Excellency Engineer Saeed bin Hamoud Al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, confirmed during an interview with Oman TV that there have been studies conducted on the economic impact of the Muscat Metro through a team established in this aspect to avoid any steps that may cause problems in the long term.
His Excellency also stressed the importance of the digital economy and raising the value of its contribution to the gross domestic product, especially since the ministry has a plan to raise and double its contribution to reach 10 percent in 2040.
His Excellency added that the Ministry aims to digitize 80 percent of basic government services in 2025, and during the past year, a unified index of all government services, amounting to 3,000, was created.
His Excellency pointed out: ”We are working on launching the national portal for electronic services by the end of this year to provide a one-stop-shop for services, and new services will be added to it constantly.”
