Civil Aviation Authority issues weather alert as rains continue across Oman

Muscat: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued an alert for thundershowers and rains of varying intensity over Musandam, North Al Batinah, Al Buraimi, South Al Batinah and Al Dhahirah governorates on Saturday 7 January, 2023.

During the evening, some rains are also expected over the Governorate of Muscat and the Al Hajar Mountains.

Rains will be accompanied by fresh wind and there are chances of overflow of wadis in several governorates.

The CAA added: “Rains of heavy intensity are expected over the coastal areas of Oman. The amount of rainfall is likely between 30 mm and 50 mm. Thundershowers may extend over Muscat and Al Hajar mountains at night."

The Civil Aviation Authority calls on everyone to take precautions during thunderstorms, not to cross valleys, avoid low places, and not go to the sea during the warning period
