Muscat: The Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) has conducted a medical evacuation for a Bengali resident requiring specialised health care in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate.
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) said in a statement: "The Royal Air Force of Oman carried out a medical evacuation via military aircraft in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate. The helicopter transported a resident of Bangladeshi nationality in need of specialised health care from Masirah Hospital to Sur Hospital, in order for them to receive the necessary treatment."
RAFO was formed on 1st March 1959. During the accession of His Majesty the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said and the rebirth of the Sultanate of Oman in 1970, it became an independent entity. It is a dynamo of national defence as well as national civil development.
During the early renaissance period, RAFO played a key part in civil development efforts by conducting activities that helped in the growth and advancement of Oman. Helicopters transported medical teams of the Rural Medical Services. Search and rescue operations were also conducted for the public during disasters.
