Muscat: A citizen who was suffering from a critical health condition was transferred from South Al Sharqiyah Governorate to Muscat Governorate by the Royal Air Force of Oman to receive the necessary specialised treatment.
"The Royal Air Force of Oman carried out a medical evacuation operation by one of its helicopters for an Omani citizen suffering from a critical health condition. He was transferred from Masirah Hospital in the South Al Sharqiyah Governorate to Khoula Hospital in Muscat Governorate to receive the necessary specialised treatment," the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said in a statement.
The Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) was formed on 1st March 1959. During the accession of His Majesty the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said and the rebirth of the Sultanate of Oman in 1970, Royal Air Force of Oman became an independent entity, a dynamo of national defence as well as national civil development.
During the early years of the renaissance period, RAFO played a key part in the civil development efforts by conducting activities that helped in the advancement and growth of the nation. Helicopters transported medical teams of the Rural Medical Services. Search and rescue operations were also conducted during disasters for the society.
