Oman to organise Muscat Nights from January

Muscat: The name of the Muscat Festival has been changed to Muscat Nights, the Muscat Municipality announced recently.

Speaking exclusively to Times of Oman, an official from Muscat Municipality confirmed that the name of the Muscat Festival has been changed to Muscat Nights and it will be held from January 19 to February 4 next year after a three-year hiatus due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The Municipality said in an online statement that it had invited on November 16 interested and talented people to participate in a competition to design a logo for the Muscat Nights event. Among the 34 designers who participated, the winner was Ali bin Said Al-Waeli and his design has been adopted as the official logo of Muscat Nights.

The statement added that “we value the participation of all creators who were part of the community’s voice to develop a visual identity for our next event, which will start on January 19.”

The winning logo has as its first letter ‘L’ which depicts the first letter of the Arabic word, Liali, and the last letter ‘M’, which is the first letter in ‘Muscat’.

Naji Al Balushi from Sohar in North Al Batinah said, “I’m so happy at the announcement of Muscat Nights after a break of three years. Muscat Governorate is distinguished by this event, and we really missed enjoying its ambience.”

Fatima Al Zadjali from Muscat Governorate said: “I am very happy at the intention of the Muscat Municipality to hold the Muscat Nights. I will take my children to enjoy the wonderful event. I’m really excited to know that this event will be held after a break of three years. Thanks to Muscat Municipality and all those in charge of the event.”

It may be noted that Muscat Festival was last held in 2019. It got interrupted due to the Covid 19 pandemic for a period of three years.
