
Muscat: The Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) has donated an amount of more than OMR 88,000 to help people affected by the flood in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Oman Charitable Organisation (OCO), said.
"The Oman Charitable Organisation has received a donation of OMR 88,422.9 from the employees of the Petroleum Development Oman to help those affected by the flood in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan," OCO said in a statement.
33 million people have been affected by the recent floods in Pakistan. The disaster has left more than 1,300 people, including more than 400 children dead. Displaced millions and put one third of the country underwater. The floods were brought on by a severe heatwave which caused glaciers in the mountains to melt and heavier than normal monsoon rains.
The Organisation also received a donation of OMR 85,803.56 from the Petroleum Development Oman to help those affected by drought in the Federal Republic of Somalia.
