Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has denied rumours that are being circulated on social media platforms about reports and attempts of kidnapping in various wilayats of the Sultanate of Oman.
A statement issued online by ROP said: "There is no truth to what is being circulated on social media about reports and attempts of kidnapping in Omani society." The ROP stresses to the honourable public the need to take information and news from its official sources.
The fake news stated that there were reports of failed attempts to kidnap a girl after she got off her school bus. It also stated that there are men of Asian nationality who disguise themselves in women's clothes and attempt to kidnap children, housemaids and women.
