Warning issued for Omanis in Australia about heavy rainfall

Muscat: The Consulate General of the Sultanate of Oman in Australia has urged Omani students and nationals residing in Victoria to take utmost care and caution due to the heavy rains.

A statement issued online by the Consulate General of Oman said: "Due to the exceptional weather that the Australian state of Victoria will witness, represented by heavy rain that may cause flash floods in some parts of the state of Victoria, starting from the evening of Wednesday, October 12, 2022, until the end of Friday, October 14, 2022, accordingly the Consulate General calls upon all Omani nationals and students in the state of Victoria to take the utmost care and caution during the rains."

"The Consulate also called on all Omani students and nationals to avoid driving in shallow waters and when the weather is at its worst, to stay in a safe place and to stay away from low places, and to follow all instructions and safety measures issued by the competent authorities in the state."

"In emergency cases, it is possible to communicate directly with the Consulate General of the Sultanate of Oman in Australia through one of the following numbers: (+61398204096), or (+61474271114)," the Consulate General added.

Victoria is a state in southeastern Australia. It is the second-smallest state with a land area of 227,444 km, the second most populated state (after New South Wales) with a population of over 6.5 million, and the most densely populated state in Australia (28 per km2). The state encompasses a range of climates and geographical features from its temperate coastal and central regions to the Victorian Alps in the northeast and the semi-arid north-west.
