Muscat: The Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation will conduct an investigation regarding the celebration that took place in a private higher education institution. Violators will be referred to the competent authorities to take the legal measures against them.
"The Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation followed up what was circulated on social media about a private higher education institution organising an event that included transgressions that contradict the principles of the tolerant Islamic Sharia and Omani values, customs and norms and we would like to draw everyone’s attention that the Ministry is keen to avoid such legally criminal abuses," the Ministry said in a statement.
The Ministry previously issued a number of ministerial circulars in which it affirmed the importance of the commitment of all institutions of higher education to Omani morals, values, culture and customs.
The Ministry contacted the institution, which committed the violation, to clarify about what happened. The Ministry stressed on the need to conduct an urgent investigation into the matter and refer the violators to the competent authorities to take legal measures against them.
It stressed the importance of the institution's keenness not to repeat any similar transgressions, otherwise the ministry will take the necessary measures to prevent such irresponsible infringements on the regulations and legislation in force in the Sultanate of Oman.
