Muscat: The Environment Authority has arrested expats for burning wild trees for the purpose of producing packaged charcoal for distribution and sale.
"The Environment Department in South Al Batinah Governorate, in cooperation with the Royal Oman Police, has seized expatriate workers who were burning wild trees for the purpose of producing packaged charcoal ready for distribution and sale in the markets, in violation of environmental regulations and laws. The legal procedures are completed against them and the seizures are confiscated," the Environment Authority said in a statement.
