Oman's  Ministry of Education lines up financing for Scientific Exploration Centre
The agreement signing took place at the Ministry’s headquarters on Tuesday.

Muscat: The Ministry of Education signed a cooperation agreement with the Oman Liquefied Natural Gas Company Development Corporation to finance a project to develop the Scientific Exploration Centre in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate.

The agreement signing took place at the Ministry’s headquarters  on Tuesday morning and was attended by Majid bin Saeed Al-Bahri, Undersecretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs, from the Ministry, Amer bin Nasser Al-Mataani, CEO of the Oman Liquefied Natural Gas Development Corporation.

Majid Al-Bahri, Undersecretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs, stated about the importance and objectives of this project, saying: “The use of renewable energy preserves the integrity of the environment, and affects the social aspects of education and health, as well as the economic aspects and the development of industry, so the Scientific Exploration Centre work in the North Al SharqiyahGovernorate aims to link the educational parties with the practical aspect of those interested in clean renewable energy, whether they are school students and their teachers, and university and college students, and to develop their innovations and inventions related to this field.

“Out of cooperation between the Ministry and the Oman Liquefied Natural Gas Development Corporation, this agreement was signed to finance the project to develop the Scientific Exploration Centre in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate, with an amount of (38,806)Omani riyals. This project aims to educate students and the community about the importance of benefiting from renewable energy, and to highlight the most important investment applications of renewable energy on the production and manufacture of innovations and inventions in the field of renewable energy, and the preservation of the environment.”

He added: “This educational centre will consist of nine corners, namely: a “solar cell educational platform” corner, a “hydro energy” corner, a “wind energy” corner, a “kinetic energy and vibrations” corner, a “hydrogen energy” corner, a “scientific models” corner, a “virtual reality” corner, in addition to the interactive screens corner, and the challenges corner. It is expected that more than 15,000 students will benefit from the establishment of this centre annually, so we extend our sincere thanks to the Oman Liquefied Natural Gas Development Corporation, for their generous support to the educational process in the Sultanate, wishing them continued success.”

Bassem bin Nasser Al Batashi, Acting Director General of Social Responsibility at the Oman LNG Development Corporation, said: “The signing of this agreement stems from confirming the existing partnership between the Ministry of Education and the Oman LNG Development Corporation to support its educational projects and programmes, and to achieve the vision of Oman 2040; With the aim of rehabilitating the Scientific Exploration Centre in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate with the latest technologies and applications that support innovations and scientific research, which is a continuation of the first educational projects supported by the Corporation in the education sector, including, but not limited to supporting 10 centres for scientific exploration in various governorates of the Sultanate and a number of projects related to innovations and scientific fields in the various schools of the educational governorates.”
