Sayyid Theyazin to preside over closing ceremony of ‘2022 Association Sword Race’
The event is part of the concluding camel race of the federation for the 2021/2022 season.

Muscat: His Highness Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth will preside on Wednesday over the conclusion of the competitions of Saif Al Itihad “Sword of the Federation” of the Annual Oman Camel Racing Federation’s  Festival 2022.


The conclusion of the race would be orrganised at  the Royal Camel Corps’ Racecourse in Al Fulaij in the Wilayat of Barka, South Al Batinah Governorate.


The race, which started on Sunday, saw tough competitions and participation of a number of camel owners from various governorates. The final day’s race will feature four rounds and the top winners in the rounds will receive gold swords, SUV vehicles and other prizes for the different categories. Tuesday’s race comprised 13 rounds in different  categories for a distance of six to eight kilometres. Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Buraiki, Wali of Barka gave away prizes to  top winners of the races.

The final day race will feature four rounds and the first round is for Thanaya category and the distance is for 8 km.

The top winners in each round will receive SUV vehicles while the winners from second to tenth place will receive cash prizes. The concluding ceremony on Wednesday will feature camel shows and other technical features of the camel corps which will be shown for the first time.

On Tuesday, in the first round, “Sayaeb” – Owned by Royal Camel Corps- managed to claim first place while “Dhaja” for Al Bashayer camel corps came in second place. “Hudoor – owned by Awadh Al Wahaibi- finished in third place.

“Kayaf”, owned by Ali Al Butaini was the champion of the second round. “Tathmeer” owned by Ali Al Oaisi came runner-up while “Hawail” owned by Mohammed Al Jahafi came in third place.

In the third round, “Shaheen” owned by Badar Al Daari managed to capture the first place while “Al Wasmi” owned by Said al Amri finished in second place while “Mazoon” owned by Haza Al Ghialni ended in third position.

“Sawaheen”, owned by Hamed Al Wahaibi, was the champion of the fifth round. “Farha” owned by Hamdan Al Jahafi came runner up while “Syof” owned by Hamed Al Wahaibi came in third place.

In the sixth round, “Mailesh” owned by Ahmed Al Daari captured the first award while “Masghal” owned by Kharbebesh Al Wahaibi finished in the second place and “Seerimi” owned by Salim Al Hajri ended in the third position.

“Tanab” owned by Said Al Oaisi was the star of the seventh round while “Deema” owned by Bati Al Malki came in second position while “Al Shaheneah” owned by Ali Al Malki finished third.

“Al Shaheneah” owned by Ibrahim Al Junaibi was the champion of the eighth round while “Al Fatin” owned by Hamed Al Amri emerged the winner for the ninth round.

Ali Al Oaisi, the owner of “Al Shaheneah” was the title holder of the tenth round while “Mahdi” owned by Ali Al Wahibi managed to earn the title of the 11th round. In the penultimate round, “Rahia” owned by the Royal Camel Corps clinched the title of the 12th round while “Mayas” owned by Ali Al Oaisi won the title of the 13th round.

At the end, chief guest Shaikh Abdullah bin Mohammed al Buraiki, Wali of Barka, handed over awards to the winners of races, as well as winners who took part in races in the presence of Shaikh Said bin Saud Al Ghifaili, Chairman of Oman Camel Racing Federation.

On the other hand, the Organising Committee announced the best photo of the ‘2022 Sword of the Federation’s Race’ contest and the winner will receive a vehicle. The rules of the competitions are available at the social media account of Oman Camel Racing Federation.
