Muscat:  The Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) received on Wednesday the Federal Minister for Digital and Economic Affairs of the Republic of Austria.

"His Excellency Eng Ridha bin Juma Al Saleh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, received Dr Margarete Schramböck, Austrian Minister for Digital and
Economic Affairs, and her accompanying delegation, in the context of strengthening economic cooperation between the Sultanate and the Republic of Austria," OCCI said in a statement.

His Excellency the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry opened the meeting, welcoming the Minister and her accompanying delegation, thanking her for this important visit, stressing the importance of commercial visits and delegations and coordinating bilateral meetings between business owners from the two countries in order to enhance trade and investment relations.

The Chairman also reviewed the economic sectors targeted by the Sultanate in its future plan aimed at diversifying sources of income, which are manufacturing industries, tourism, food security, transport, logistics and mining, referring as well to other supporting sectors, namely energy, information technology, health and education.

 "The Sultanate has recently sought to improve the business environment and make it attractive to foreign capital and investors, by amending laws and legislation in line with the requirements of the current and upcoming stage." His Excellency said

Her Excellency Dr. Margarete Schramböck, emphasised the improvements and modifications that the Sultanate witnessed during the last stage in the investment and legislative environment in the Sultanate.

The Minister indicated that Oman Vision 2040 works to place the Sultanate in the ranks of developed countries, stressing that this visit aims to open broader horizons of trade and investment relations between the two countries.

Her Excellency the Austrian Minister for  Digital and Economic Affairs also referred to the efforts made towards strengthening relations in various fields by reopening the Austrian embassy in the Sultanate, which in turn will enhance efforts and work to achieve the desired goals.

The meeting also included holding bilateral meetings between business owners from the Omani and Austrian sides in a number of sectors, including green energy, hydrogen, health and technology.
