Oman to witness heavy thunderstorms

Muscat: Most of the Sultanante of Oman’s governorates may witness heavy thunderstorms during the coming hours, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said.

A statement issued online by CAA said: "Heavy thunderstorms are expected during the coming hours which can reach up to 30-80 mm over the Governorates of North Al Batinah, Al Buraimi, Al Dhahirah, Al Dakhiliyah, South Al Batinah, Muscat, North Al Sharqiyah and South Al Sharqiyah. The thunderstorms will be accompanied by fresh downdraft winds, hail and flow of some wadis (flash floods)."

The CAA advises all to take precautions during rainfall and flash floods, check the sea state report before sailing and keep monitoring the weather bulletins.
