343 new coronavirus cases reported in Oman

Muscat: As many as 343 more people in Oman were reported to be infected with COVID-19 on 2 January, according to figures released by the government.

One more person was reported to have died from the disease, bringing the total number of deaths since the pandemic came to Oman to 4,117 people.

A total of 305,832 people have so far been infected with the virus, with 300,488 of them having successfully recovered.

Three people were admitted to hospital for COVID-related issues in the 24 hours leading up to 2 January, while there are 14 people currently in hospital, with four of them in intensive care.

The single-day figures revealed on Sunday were at par with the numbers of new infections reported on the previous Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

119 people tested positive on Thursday, 30 December, another 102 on Friday the 31st, and a further 122 on the first day of 2022.

“With our commitment to wearing masks and maintaining social and physical distancing, we will prevent ourselves, our families, and our community from the spread of the coronavirus,” said the Ministry of Health in its advisory.
