'Rummana' event in Jabal Akhdar draws nearly 9,000 visitors in July

Muscat: The third edition of the "Rummana" event at Janayen Farm in the Wilayat of Jabal Akhdar has attracted a total of 8,953 visitors from its launch on July 4 until July 31. The event is a collaborative effort supported by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, Tipi Company, and the Agricultural Tourism Development Company (Janayen), and is set to continue until September 27.

The event is part of an integrated vision to transform the natural and cultural assets of Jabal Al Akhdar into inspiring tourism experiences. This initiative aims to enhance the Sultanate of Oman's position as a leading tourist destination, promote sustainable agricultural tourism, and empower rural communities by leveraging agricultural assets to enrich the tourism experience.

One of the event's most popular attractions is the fig picking experience. Visitors can take a guided tour with a farmer, pick figs directly from the trees, and capture souvenir photos, creating a unique and educational experience for families and those interested in local agriculture.

Coinciding with the Jabal Akhdar Festival, "Rummana" offers a variety of activities for all ages. Visitors can enjoy the live harvest of pomegranates, figs, and pears, as well as weekly educational workshops and interactive shows at the open-air theater. The event also features a dedicated entertainment area for children, a "Farmers' Market" showcasing fresh local produce, and the "Calling" event, which highlights local cooperation. Additionally, guests can enjoy a selection of cafes and restaurants offering traditional Omani cuisine from the Al Jabal Al Akhdar region.
