Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik has left the Sultanate of Oman for the State of Qatar on a two-day state visit.
"His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik is leaving the country for the State of Qatar on a two-day 'state' visit, during which he will meet with his brother, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar," Oman News Agency (ONA) said in a statement.
This visit comes in response to the invitation received by the Sultan of the country from his brother, the Emir of the State of Qatar, and in order to strengthen the distinguished strong relations between Oman and the State of Qatar and to strengthen the bilateral ties between the two countries.

A statement issued online by Oman News Agency (ONA) said: "The visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik to the State of Qatar and his meeting with his brother, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, constitutes a renewed impetus in strengthening the historical bilateral relations at various levels."
The visit will open wider horizons for the future of the two countries, especially in the economic aspect, one of the important pillars of Oman Vision 2040 and Qatar National Vision 2030, reinforced by legislative elements stimulating investment and facilitating infrastructure.
Through these legislations, the Sultanate of Oman has created incentives, including competitive service prices, tax exemption for a period of five years that can be extended, exemption from income tax for individuals, freedom of transfer of capital and profits, freedom of transfer of foreign currencies and foreign ownership of up to 100 per cent.
In addition to the one-stop services that provide the investors with all the information and the completion of transactions in a quick time, and the corresponding stimulating systems in the State of Qatar, including the allocation of lands needed for investment with the provision of import facilities, exemption from income tax, exemption from customs duties, in addition to other incentives.
The Sultanate of Oman and the State of Qatar also own international ports, including Duqm, Sohar, Salalah, Hamad, Doha and Ruwais, through which they can enhance the existing cooperation in maritime transport services, loading, unloading and handling operations.
It is hoped that the Omani-Qatari Joint Committee headed by the Ministers of Finance of the two brotherly countries will work to activate these common factors, reinforced by this historic visit. The committee’s meeting in 2019 in Muscat had emphasised on “encouraging joint investments in the fields of agriculture, energy, communications, transport, and tourism, banking, and education".
The two countries also agree in their foreign policies on a number of regional and international issues, including the Palestinian issue, maintaining international peace and security, combating terrorism, encouraging dialogue to resolve issues and renounce violence, in addition to keenness to strengthen the progress of the Gulf Cooperation Council states.
