Muscat: Nine expats have been imprisoned and deported from the Sultanate of Oman for violating the Live Aquatic Wealth Law.
"In cooperation with the Royal Oman Police stations in the wilayats of Duqm and Al-Jazer and the joint inspection team in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, nine expatriate workers violating the Live Aquatic Wealth Law were deported today to the Central Prison in preparation for their deportation outside the country. The violators were arrested for practicing a prohibited operation of lobster fishing outside the permitted season and the use of unlicensed boats," the Directorate General said in a statement.
The Directorate General of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources in Al Wusta Governorate calls upon all fishermen to abide by the stipulated fishing seasons.
