Muscat: His Majesty, Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik, is addressing the Sultanate in a speech. Here are the live excerpts:

1. "The Ministerial Committee charged with assessing damages to citizen’s homes and properties should provide assistance as soon as possible. Relevant government agencies must facilitate and cooperate in this work which will occur under our direct supervision."

2. “We have ordered the establishment of a national emergency fund in order to deal with the aftermath of the tropical situation and to expedite the mitigation of its effects, and to alleviate the problems of citizens affected by it and what may happen in the future from such cases or other natural disasters."

3. "We will stress that restoring public life to its normal state and providing the basic necessities of life for those affected is a first priority for us at this stage."

"We would like to commend the role of all governmental, private and civil agencies, who have played pioneering and esteemed roles in responding immediately to the requirements of the storm and in dealing with it, and in particular the National Committee for the Management of Emergency Situations, and our valiant armed forces."
