Muscat: More than 3,000 personal computers have been handed over to eligible school students at concession areas by the Ministry of Education and in cooperation with the Petroleum Development Oman (PDO).
"The Ministry of Education, represented by the Directorate General of Information Technology, handed over 3,358 personal computers to eligible students in schools in concession areas for grades seven to twelve, which were funded and supported by Petroleum Development Oman," the Ministry of Education said in a statement.
The devices were delivered according to a memorandum of cooperation between the ministry and the company funding and supporting the project to distribute computers for the Directorate General of Education of the targeted governorates, which are Al Dakhiliyah Governorate with 228 devices, Al Wusta Governorate with 752 devices, Dhofar Governorate with 1,662 devices, and Al Dhahirah governorate with 103 devices.
The devices were distributed to schools according to a list for each school, and then distributed after the students filled out forms with the recipient's complete data and signature.
The delivery of the devices was attended by a number of representatives of the ministry and the Petroleum Development Oman Company.
