Muscat: The Ibri Power Station and the Sohar Power Station will go on stream by 2018 and 2019 respectively, Ali Abdullah Al Abri, chief executive officer of Oman Electricity Transmission Company, has said.
“The total capacity of these power stations will be approximately 3,200 MW,” he said at a function where agreements on company’s Five-Year Plan (2016-2020) were signed.
Oman Electricity Transmission Company is considered an important company in the Sultanate's electricity sector as it manages and operates the high-voltage transmission network (132 KV and above) in all the governorates.
A few of the projects related to meeting the growing demand of electricity transmission in various regions of the Sultanate were also signed.
“In line with our vision "Renowned World Class Transmission Grid by: 2025", the company has recently managed to achieve international certifications in four areas, namely, ISO 14001 related environment, OHSAS 18001 related to safety and health at work, ISO 55001 related to Asset Management and ISO27001 related to information security,” the official said. These achievements demonstrate that the company moving in the right direction in line with its vision, he added.
