ROP warns against electronic fraud over calls and messages

Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has urged people to ignore calls or messages claiming that they have won prizes in cash or the like to avoid falling into the trap of electronic fraud.

"Ignore all incoming social media calls and messages claiming to be a communication company, a bank or a famous person requesting your personal data, PIN number and claiming that you have won a prize in cash, in kind or offering financial help," ROP said in a statement.

"To report frauds, please call the hotline for Directorate General of Inquiries and Criminal Investigations on 80077444," ROP added.
