Muscat: Oman Water and Wastewater Services Company (OWWSC), has shipped 66,000 gallons of drinking water to a number of marine areas in Musandam Governorate.
"OWWSC has transported drinking water free of charge to a number of marine areas in the Musandam Governorate via ships equipped with crew capable of dealing with volatile weather conditions, wind speed and high tides," Oman News Agency (ONA) said in a statement.
Engineer Ibrahim Al Shehi, Director of the Company’s Operations Department in the Musandam Governorate, confirms that the company is working to ensure the provision of potable water to citizens residing on a number of islands and marine areas in the governorate via ships on a daily basis, according to a regular programme.
MalAllah bin Suleiman Al Kumzari, Head of the Ships Section in the Operations Department in Musandam, said that the company fills its four ships from water sources equivalent to 66,000 gallons per day of drinking water that feeds nearly 90 areas that vary between residential, fishermen and sheep herding areas.
