Muscat: The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning has issued a clarification on the impact of some citizens' homes in the Sabakh neighbourhood in the Wilayat of Sur as the result of the climatic conditions.
"The Ministry followed with interest the impact on some citizens' homes in the Sabakh neighbourhood in the Wilayat of Sur, South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, due to the effects of the weather conditions on the Sultanate," the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning said in a statement.
The Ministry is working with the competent authorities in all sectors of society, government, private and civil to find out information about the region and find possible solutions. The ministry confirmed that the area has old properties and is not among the housing plans it has prepared.
The ministry explained that the urban strategy was approved by His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik this year to organise the urban planning sector in the Sultanate in line with Oman Vision 2040, which aims at making cities sustainable and adapt to climatic changes.
