Muscat: With a new target group for vaccination set to be announced next week, the Ministry of Health on Thursday said that two more vaccines have been given emergency use licenses for the Sultanate taking the total number of vaccines in use to four.

Dr. Saif Salim Al Abri, Director General of Disease Surveillance and Control at the Ministry of Health said at a press conference of the Supreme Committee to deal with Covid-19 on Thursday, “Emergency use license has also been granted in the Sultanate for four vaccines, namely Pfizer-Biontech, Oxford/AstraZeneca, Sputnik and Sinovac vaccines.

“Oman will not exclude anyone from vaccinations but we are following a strategy,” explained His Excellency Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Saidi, Minister of Health.

Meanwhile, the Sultanate has also added pregnant women to the list of those targeted for vaccination, and the vaccines used in the Sultanate have been deemed to be safe for them.
